Alice (Milla Jovovich), now in hiding in the Nevada desert, once again joins forces with Carlos Olivera and L.J., along with new survivors Claire, K-Mart and Nurse Betty to try to eliminate the deadly virus that threatens to make every human being undead...and to seek justice. Since being captured by the Umbrella Corporation, Alice has been subjected to biogenic experimentation and becomes genetically altered, with super-human strengths, senses and dexterity. These skills, and more, will be needed if anyone is to remain alive.
I was not really looking forward to this film as I didn’t particularly enjoy the previous two. I don’t really know what to say about these films anymore. They are all the same so if you don’t like one you will probably not like the others. I was not expecting too much walking into the 3rd installment of Resident Evil. I have always been under the impression that the Resident Evil films don’t sell very well and as a result they won’t make another film...yet ever few summers it pops up again, just like the virus in the film.
There is nothing really wrong with Milla in the film. No one will be getting Oscars or anything but it’s not so much the acting as it is the film it’s self. It’s just a bit cheesy and silly in parts. I thought we had gotten past saying, “lock and load” in films you know? Yet it manages to rear its ugly head yet again. And what could be sillier than seeing Ashanti carrying a chest full of bullets, Rambo style. It’s just silly. In fact do I really need to write anything beyond that?
I guess if you just need to get out of the house and see some zombies get blown away for an hour then it’s the DVD rental of the decade. I would much rather watch 28 days later however.
They left the film open again, (of course) so I suppose we’ll be expecting yet another film in a couple more years. Maybe one day it will actually come to an end. Who knows?
