The Review

Doomed by a double-crossing sorceress to spend eternity in suspended animation, China's ruthless Dragon Emperor and his 10,000 warriors have lain forgotten for eons, entombed in clay as a vast, silent terra cotta army. But when dashing adventurer Alex O'Connell is tricked into awakening the ruler from eternal slumber, the reckless young archaeologist must seek the help of the only people who know more than he does about taking down the undead: his parents. As the monarch roars back to life, his quest for world domination has only intensified over the millennia. Striding the Far East with unimaginable supernatural powers, the Emperor Mummy will rouse his legion as an unstoppable, otherworldly force--unless the O'Connells can stop him first.

The worst part about having to see this movie is having to recant it as I write this review. (twitch)

I can’t say I didn’t like the first two Mummies. They were ok films with some decent visual effects. They always had that layer of Brendan Fraser cheese on it however. The new mummy film was like the double quarter pounder with extra Brendan Fraser cheese. It was riddled with awful one liners, horribly placed humor ( a yeti giving the “touchdown” pose after kicking someone, for example) and horrible acting across the board. Between Brendan Fraser, the younger Asian actress and some horribly rendered yeti’s, it’s a full on high school play.

The visual effects were just ok. They have not seemed to progress over the years. They were great years ago but they look the same at this point and other studios are completely destroying it at this point. They either really need to step it up or completely forget this franchise. It did make 40million however so…I guess if it’s making money then you can’t blame them for cranking them out.
