The Review

Right when I think I am going to get sick of Will Ferrell he comes out with a gem. His style of humor does not get old. It is so silly you can’t help but to laugh. Go ahead and add Taladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, to the string of hilarity created by Crazy Willy. I think we knew we were in trouble when Josh and I were outside waiting in line for Taladega Nights and the line started just outside the theatre doors and wrapped around the building. To add to the epiphany, a cute girl from one of the southern states asked us, “So are you NASCAR fans?” She was there to see the cars.

Ricky Bobby wants to go fast. Winning is all he wants to do because it is all he has done. Ricky is a big, hairy, American winning machine. Simply put, if you’re not first, you’re last. Enters Jean Girard, a gay Frenchman from the Formula 1 racing circuit. Jean comes to NASCAR and quickly becomes Ricky’s nemesis by winning with the greatest of ease.

After a near death racing accident, Ricky falls into a deep depression. He believes he is paralyzed and even develops racing block. Will a reunion with his estranged father help him grow back his peaches?

Whether you are a NASCAR fan or a Will Farrell fan, you are in for a damn good ride. The clips used in the commercials to ignite interest were definitely funny parts of the movie, but there were plenty of jokes left to keep the movie from being a two-hour extension of the commercial.

This movie is hilarious. There were a few parts that were a bit slow but all in all, this film is hilarious. Grab whomever you can and go have a good time at this show. Finally, a comedy that has, well...comedy.
