I’ve been watching the progression of this game since its first tech demo that was released several years ago. That demo was showing off the DMM (Digital Molecular Matter) technology that Lucas Arts had been developing. Slowly year after year I’ve seen videos, screens and full on demo’s being played at the Game Developers Conference. Like many other developers and Star Wars Enthusiasts’ I have been waiting for this game for a very long time.
Let’s step back for a minute and take a look at some of the greatest battles in history. Fights like David vs. Goliath. The Union vs. The Confederates. White vs. wheat. Well, today, we again see the struggle between two massive giants. Microsoft and Sony (sorry Nintendo) are in a heated battle for our hard earned cash. It's as simple as that.
Never let it be said that all game developers are just money hungry scheming corporate machines. In my opinion Valve might just be one of the last hold-outs of integrity in the industry, and no opinion is justified without explanation; so let’s travel back in time and look at Valve a few years ago.
As we find ourselves close to the end of 2007 I can’t help but take a look back at what could honestly have been one of the best gaming years ever. I know, I know some of you might disagree with me, which is fine, but I’m going to break down some of the games that really made this year special. Can any of you remember another time when so many “must have” games hit store shelves week after week?
Spending money at the arcade is nothing new to any person over the age of 20, but these days the arcade is a dying breed. Gone are the days of pumping quarters into a game until your fingers were useless. What has caused this? Well the answer lies in somewhere between graphics, cost, and convenience. To the average gamer, the arcade is just not worth it anymore.
Yea we do movie and game reviews but this is a cultural piece of hardware already and so I wanted to do a review on it. Apple’s new iPhone. I have it...and it is glorious. And I’m totally NOT an apple guy. I generally think Mac’s are really expensive typewriters. I’m in the vfx industry/game industry where Mac’s are virtually non-existent because, well… what can you do on a Mac?
I tried my hand at installing the Xbox Media Center (XBMC) onto my Xbox the other day. If you've never heard of XBMC before, it's an open source Media Center that runs on your Xbox. I’ve been looking for a Media Center PC for quite a long time. I originally purchased the Microsoft Xbox Media Center Extension and stopped using it because I found it too cumbersome and too slow so I was eager to try this new system out. What I found is a feature packed system that adds a tremendous value to my dust collecting Xbox.
